Passage 1 — The White Rabbit’s Arrival
“She was considering in her own mind… when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. There was nothing very remarkable in that… but when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat pocket, and looked at it, and hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it…”
Cover illustration inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865). In a sun-dappled meadow, Alice gazes in astonishment at a white rabbit with pink eyes, holding a pocket-watch and dressed in a tiny waistcoat. Time itself seems to shimmer around the watch, light bending in soft waves. The atmosphere is whimsical yet uncanny, like the first breath of a dream.
Passage 2 — The Pool of Tears
“She went on crying in this way… until there was a large pool all round her, about four inches deep and reaching half down the hall. She swam about, trying to find her way out, and she swam past a curious creature — a Mouse — swimming also.”
Cover illustration inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865). Inside a vast hall bathed in moonlight, Alice floats in a pool made of her own tears, her dress billowing like a cloud around her. A small mouse swims beside her, equally adrift. Shadows of arches and doors stretch across the water. The scene glows with melancholy magic, fragile and surreal.
Passage 3 — The Mad Tea Party
"A long table was set out under the trees… the March Hare and the Hatter were having tea at it: a Dormouse was sitting between them, fast asleep, and the other two were using it as a cushion, resting their elbows on it, and talking over its head."
Cover illustration inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865). Beneath crooked trees in twilight, a long table is covered with mismatched teapots and cups. The Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and the Dormouse slumbering between them create a tableau both whimsical and eerie. Light filters through leaves, casting dreamlike shadows. The atmosphere is surreal, festive yet haunted, as if caught between childhood wonder and strange enchantment.”
